Jamaican Reggae singer, Tarrus Riley is set to release his fifth studio album in February, dubbed Love Situation, according to reports Wednesday.
The album, co-produced by Dean Fraser, Shane Brown, Jordan McClure and Mitchum ‘Khan’ Chin, features 17 tracks, speaking on varying topics, from love to political and social issues. The lead single on Love Situation is Dem a Watch, which will reportedly debut on local radio this week.
“The message and tone of this single shows the diversity of Tarrus Riley and his team,” Riley’s camp said in a statement. “With a unique-styled musical composition and the socially-charged lyrics which articulate perseverance despite what the masses may say or do to try discredit you. Dem A Watch is a single which will only tease your musical palette.”
The album is described as ‘100% rocksteady,’ dedicated to the genre popularized in the 1960s prior to Reggae music’s emergence.
“Special thanks to the engineers, singers and players of instruments for lending their expertise on this project,” Riley said. “Extra-special salute to the legends of the indigenous Jamaican genre of music called rocksteady, also called lovers rock, in other parts of the world.”
Riley is known for hits such as Stay With You, She’s Royal, Human Nature and Gimme Likkle One Drop.
Love Situation will be made available for pre-order on Jan. 28, with a pre-album tour set to kick
