Reports are that popular drummer Basil "Prince" Shirley passed away in Germany on Wednesday after battling an undisclosed illness.
Prolific reggae producer Donovan Germain of Penthouse Records, in an interview with a Jamaican outlet described Shirley as an extraordinary musician who was extremely fun-loving and committed to his craft.
"He wasn't really a studio drummer but he played with Til Shiloh band until Buju Banton was incarcerated. He was really good at what he did. He played very close to the record as possible. He was always on tempo and the band could really rely on him to give off that strong beat," Germain said.
