Vybz Kartel Files Multimillion Dollar Lawsuit Against Police Head Owen Ellington
Vybz Kartel and Gaza Slim conspiracy trial has been rocked with more delays.
The former Portmore Empire deejays were expected back in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s court today.
However, the unavailability of a witness forced the trial to be postponed until Thursday.
Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. The embattled dancehall star could get a few more years on his sentence if found guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
According to police reports, Kartel, Gaza Slim, and a man name Pim Pim concocted a false police report in October 2011. Cops say they have text messages implicating all three in the plot.
Gaza Slim, whose real name is Vanessa Saddler, and Pim Pim, real name Andre Henry, are out on bail.

Vybz Kartel is not going down without a fight. Attorneys representing the embattled dancehall star has filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit against outgoing Police Commissioner Owen Ellington. Kartel’s lead attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson, told ZipFM, that the documents have ben signed by the incarcerated deejay but he had dated them which he shouldn’t have. So he will have to re-sign new docs which will be filed in the next couple of days. It is unknown how much money Vybz Kartel is suing Owen Ellington for, but sources told Urban Islandz it is in the millions. “The commissioner is part of a wider conspiracy to bring down Vybz Kartel and this lawsuit will send a clear message to this corrupt authority,” the source told us requesting anonymity. In April of this year, Police Commissioner Owen Ellington revealed in an interview with TVJ’s All Angles that Vybz Kartel lead a gang that is responsible for well over a 100 murders. “Vybz Kartel lead a gang that was responsible for well over a hundred murders,” Owen Ellington said. “We have been telling the country this for a very long time. And everytime we move against this gang we were criticized, we were contemned and we were accused of being malicious.”
Ellington recently announced his retirement from being the top cop in Jamaica after just four years on the job. After Vybz Kartel conviction in February, Ellington defended the police force from widespread criticism of their handling of evidence presented in the high profile murder trial. Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, is currently serving a life sentence in a maximum security section of theHorizon Remand Center. He will be eligible for parole in 35 years, while his three co-convicts Shawn Storm Campbell, Andre St John, and Kahira Jones will have to wait 25 years for parole.
Rumor Control: Vybz Kartel Did Not Commit Suicide In Prison
Radio host legend Star is the latest celebrity to weigh in on Vybz Kartel murder conviction and subsequent life sentence.
Speaking with VLAD TV, Star says he has no respect for the dancehall kingpin, who is now lockedbehind bars in a maximum security prison in Jamaica.
“Vybz Kartel is a f***king snitch,” Star said. “He is a stupid ni****. One of the stupidest mother***** that ever walked the face of this planet. He is an embarrassment to dancehall.”
Star spoke candidly about going to dancehall session in the 1980s and seeing Super Cat fighting inthe club.
He also called Vybz Kartel out for allegedly dismembering his murder victim Clive “Lizard” Williams over missing guns and collaborating with police to take illegal guns off the streets of Portmore.
Vybz Kartel and three of his associates including protege Shawn Storm were convicted in the Jamaican High Court in February of murder. Justice Lennox Campbell sentenced the men to life with the possibility of parole in 35 years for the dancehall hitmaker.

Vybz Kartel is very much alive and well despite some new rumors claiming that the self-proclaim Worl’Bosscommitted suicide in prison.
Earlier this week several publications within the dancehall blogo sphere reported that Vybz Kartel committed suicide behind bars.
Several of the “Dancehall Hero” fans have been asking Urban Islandz on social media if Vybz Kartelcommitted suicide.
A close source to the incarcerated dancehall star said the reports are bogus.
“Addi [Vybz Kartel] is alive and in good health and good spirit,” the source said. “I visit him regularly and he is aware of these rumors some people spreading just to get traffic on their sites. But we are focus on the appeal and will not be deterred by these low life.”
The source, who visits Vybz Kartel regularly behind bars, told us that he is now awaiting on a hearing for his appeal.
“The appeal docs are now with the court of appeal who will then set a hearing, so we expect the firsthearing sometime by the end of the year or early next year,” the source said.
Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, is currently serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison after being convicted for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. His protege Shawn “Storm” Campbell and close friends Kahira Jones and Andre St John were also convicted and given life sentences.
Vybz Kartel will be eligible for parole in 35 years, while Shawn Storm and Jones will have to serve 25 years, and St John 30, before they become eligible for parole.
All four men are appealing the conviction, citing multiple problems with the case including police tamperingwith evidence.
Vybz Kartel legacy will be kept alive for a long time to come because the embattled deejay has a huge catalog of previously recorded unreleased music.
Since his incarceration in April, Vybz Kartel has been gracing his fans with new music almost every week.
Some fans are even questioning whether or not the “Dancehall Hero” deejay has been recording music in prison.
But a rep for the deejay told Urban Islandz that they are literally sitting on a huge catalog of previously recorded unreleased material.
“Vybz Kartel was one of the hardest working artist in dancehall, he would literally be in the studio everyday recording new material and so after a while we end up with a hard drive full of unreleased music,” the rep told us.
“We are steadily mixing and releasing new Vybz Kartel as time goes by, and there are also plans to put together a double disc album next year,” the rep added.
Just this week a new Vybz Kartel song “6 Missed Calls” hit dancehall airwaves. The single was produced by Simon Howden of High Stakes Records.
The deejay’s rep told us than fans can look out for some hot new singles leading up to Christmas.
