Jah Cure Sentenced To 6 Years In Netherlands Prison

Reggae singer Siccaturie Alcock otherwise known as Jah Cure was sentenced today, March 22 to six years in prison in the Netherlands for attempted manslaughter of Nicardo ‘Papa’ Blake.

Franklin Wattimena, Press Officer of the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service declared that “The 43-years old man was sentenced to six years in prison – with credit for time served – for attempted manslaughter. The court finds him not guilty of attempted murder. His claim of self-defense was rejected by the court.”

An appeal can be made to the Netherlands Court of Appeal if both parties disagree with the court’s ruling within two weeks.

Prosecutors in the “Prison Walls” singer trial were seeking an eight-year sentence with credit for time served. The charges that were laid against Jah Cure were attempted murder, attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault, or attempted aggravated assault to the October 1, 2021 stabbing of event promoter Nicardo ‘Papa’ Blake at Dam Square in Amsterdam.

The courts rejected the self-defense claim of the singer and he was found not guilty of attempted murder.
